Alan Fowler is honorary professor of the Chair in African Philanthropy, to be hosted by the Africa Centre for Philanthropy and Social Investment currently being established at University of Witwatersrand Business School. His professional career has included business engineering, adult education, advising on non-profit management and in Foundation grant making. Voluntary positions include the presidency of the International Society for Third Sector Research and a board member of Civicus, The World Alliance for Citizen Participation. He holds DPhil degree from the University of Sussex. His books and publications include required readings on post-graduate courses. Resident in South Africa, Dr Fowler has lived and worked in numerous African and Asian countries.
